Daniel Lucero, DNP, RN, PMHNP-BC, is a dedicated board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) providing compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care to adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns. A graduate of Loma Linda University, Daniel earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and brings a diverse clinical background spanning emergency medicine, critical care, psychiatric assessment, and outpatient mental health treatment.
Daniel’s healthcare career has given him experience caring for individuals across many different settings, including emergency medical services, emergency department nursing, inpatient critical care, psychiatric intake and assessment, and outpatient telepsychiatry. This broad clinical experience has shaped his ability to evaluate both the physical and emotional factors that can affect a person’s mental health and overall well-being.
Today, Daniel specializes in comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management for individuals experiencing conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, substance use disorders, mood disorders, and other psychiatric concerns. He works closely with each patient to understand their symptoms, history, goals, and concerns before developing an individualized treatment plan.
Daniel believes that effective psychiatric medication management involves much more than simply prescribing medication. His approach emphasizes thoughtful assessment, ongoing communication, careful medication monitoring, and collaboration with each patient to determine what is working and what may need to change. Whether someone is considering psychiatric medication for the first time, restarting treatment, or looking for a second opinion about an existing medication regimen, Daniel strives to create a comfortable environment where questions and concerns are welcomed.
Known for his calm, collaborative, and patient-centered approach, Daniel understands that seeking psychiatric care can sometimes feel overwhelming. He takes the time to listen carefully, explain treatment options clearly, and help patients feel informed and involved in decisions about their mental health care. His goal is to help each person feel heard, supported, and confident in the treatment plan they develop together.
In addition to his clinical practice, Daniel serves as a Professor at Western University of Health Sciences College of Graduate Nursing, where he helps educate and prepare future nursing professionals. His role in education reflects his commitment to lifelong learning, evidence-based practice, and continually advancing the quality of mental health care he provides.
Daniel is passionate about helping individuals improve their quality of life through accessible, personalized psychiatric treatment. He recognizes that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to mental health and works to create treatment plans that reflect each patient’s unique needs, circumstances, and goals.
If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, substance use, or another mental health concern, or if you are wondering whether medication may be an appropriate part of your treatment, Daniel welcomes the opportunity to help. Through comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and personalized medication management, his goal is to help you find a treatment approach that supports greater stability, functioning, and long-term emotional wellness.
