Associate Clinical Social Worker

Skyler Lugo, ASW, is an Associate Clinical Social Worker who provides compassionate, person-centered therapy for children, teens, and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, emotional regulation challenges, family and relationship conflict, life transitions, and everyday stress. She is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to work toward meaningful change.

Skyler understands that growing up can bring a wide range of emotional and relational challenges. Children, teens, and young adults may struggle with worry, sadness, overwhelming emotions, changing relationships, family stress, school pressures, identity development, or uncertainty about the future. She works with clients to better understand what they are experiencing while building practical tools they can use in daily life.

Her therapeutic approach is grounded primarily in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and she is also EMDR Trained, allowing her to incorporate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) when appropriate for clients working through trauma, distressing experiences, or difficult emotional patterns. Skyler tailors therapy to each client’s individual needs, personality, and goals, combining evidence-based approaches with practical skill-building and emotional support.

Skyler’s style is collaborative, direct, encouraging, and approachable. She believes therapy should feel like a genuine conversation rather than a rigid process and often incorporates warmth and humor into sessions when appropriate. Her goal is to create an environment where young clients feel comfortable being themselves while still feeling supported and challenged to grow.

For clients experiencing anxiety or depression, Skyler helps identify thought patterns, emotional triggers, and behaviors that may be contributing to distress. Together, they work on strengthening coping skills, improving emotional awareness, and building strategies for managing difficult feelings in healthier and more effective ways.

Skyler also has a particular interest in helping young people develop stronger emotional regulation skills. She works with clients who may feel easily overwhelmed, frustrated, reactive, or unsure how to communicate what they are feeling. Therapy can help clients better recognize emotions, identify triggers, communicate their needs, and develop greater control over how they respond.

When family or relationship conflicts are contributing to stress, Skyler helps clients explore communication patterns, boundaries, expectations, and emotional needs. She also collaborates with families when appropriate, recognizing that a young person’s relationships and environment can play an important role in their emotional well-being.

Skyler believes therapy is most effective when clients are actively involved in the process. She works alongside clients to identify meaningful goals, recognize their existing strengths, increase self-awareness, and develop practical skills that support both current challenges and long-term growth.

At the heart of Skyler’s work is a commitment to helping young people feel more capable and confident in navigating their lives. Through a strong therapeutic relationship, she helps clients build resilience, healthier coping skills, emotional insight, and a stronger sense of self.

Whether your child, teen, or young adult is struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, family conflict, relationship challenges, or a major life transition, Skyler offers a supportive and collaborative space to better understand what is happening and develop the tools needed to move forward with greater confidence.
